About the author
Sanford Horowitz
Sandy Horowitz was born on August 17th 1945 at the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. It has been said that the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital has the status of being the birthing place of many well known Hollywood celebrities and other famous individuals from every profession.
Most of Sandy’s Brooklyn childhood centered being under the protective eyes of his older brother, Melvin. Where safety was only secured by how old and big your big brother was and the reputation of the toughness of the block you lived on. It was a far cry from Long Island where his parents moved as did many other young Jewish families in the 1950’s.
Sandy discovered in junior high that he had what is now known as ADHD. Sandy states “I can’t begin to express how frustrating and difficult those early school years turned out to be. No matter how much I wanted to study and get good grades, my condition wouldn’t allow me. I couldn’t sit down and focus. I had to keep moving. I still have ADHD today, but eventually I learned to use it to my advantage which has lead me to many exciting adventures and careers.”
SANFORD(SANDY) J HOROWITZ “Eclectic” is the most appropriate word that defines Sanford’s life. After graduating college and serving in army intelligence during the Vietnam years, Sanford worked in New York City in management for a major manufacturer. Shortly after, an opportunity arose to supervise construction of a residential home in Port Antonio, Jamaica, W.I. where he spent 3 years. When he completed the project in 1971, Sanford was invited to Los Angeles. He stayed with his cousin who was married to Paul Hunt and Sanford became close friends. Paul was a young filmmaker and offered Sanford partnership in a new film venture, “United Filmmakers, Int.” Together, they produced and distributed over a dozen films domestic and internationally. That was when Sandy travelled the world.
About the Book
Life at 70
Life at 70–Pedal to the Metal came from my heart. There is no way around it. It flashed to me as an idea that just wouldn’t go away.
Being a first time writer did enter my mind with thoughts of doubt, but that powerful internal voice to move forward was too strong. So, here I am, hat in hand at the finish line, ready to release my efforts.
I had proven first hand to myself, that spiritual wisdom really works. After all, I found the road to that elusive word, “happiness.”
One would logically think by the time people became seniors like myself, they would have gotten “it”. I found that getting “it” isn’t a guarantee. In many cases, getting “it” is but a few words away.
I’m not saying I am God’s messenger, but the wisdom I do share does come from very reliable sources. It’s now your choice to give it your own assessment, a test drive, if you will. And from somewhere, deep from my heart, sweat, and mainly a desire to share, this book gave birth.

What people said about my books
The author has a compelling idea: make the world better, no grand gestures required, rather open your heart and let it open the next heart and let that open one more. Us 70 year olds have been around for a while and likely, even stumbling into the seventh decade, have learned a thing or two, if only from the almost infinite mistakes we have made along the way.
With fresh eyes, the author shares with us his experience finding his own way to open his heart wholly without waiver off his most personal of paths. No dogma, no religion, no gurus, needed to open our hearts and minds. He has found in the intimate experiences of his life a way forward to being a better person and living a fuller existence. He warns it's not easy. It takes working with one's own situation. But it is eminently possible He has found and collected for us tips and guidelines, suggestions and explanations, set forth with clarity for us to follow. A small town mainstreet local diner sitting around the table with old friends path beguiling in its simplicity- vast it in comprehension.
